Asparagus Recipes

These asparagus recipes make it easy to incorporate asparagus into your diet.  This vegetable is delicious and full of vitamins. Best of all it can take as little as fifteen minutes to cook. You need only a few basic ingredients to create delicious asparagus dishes that your entire family will love. 

Steaming

Asparagus is one of the quickest ways to cook this vegetable. You will need an asparagus steamer or a large pot with a lid for this asparagus recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Asparagus
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Balsamic vinegar
  1. Clean and trim the tough ends of the asparagus.
  2. Next place the asparagus into the steamer with about two inches of boiling water.
  3. Add 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper.
  4. After about five to ten minutes, depending on the thickness of the stalks, remove the asparagus.
  5. Drizzle balsamic vinegar onto the asparagus and serve while hot.

 

Roasting

Roasting asparagus is a tasty asparagus recipe that takes less than twenty minutes to complete.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1b Asparagus
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degree Fahrenheit.
  2. Next you should wash and trim the tough ends of the asparagus.
  3. Spread the asparagus out onto a baking pan and sprinkle 1/2 pepper, 1 tbsp salt, 1 tbsp garlic powder and 2 tbsp olive oil onto the asparagus. Make sure you rub the asparagus around to ensure it is evenly seasoned and place the asparagus in a baking pan or dish.
  4. Cook the asparagus for fifteen minutes and remove from the oven.
  5. Squeeze two lemon halves onto your asparagus and enjoy this delicious asparagus recipe. 

 

Grilling

Grilling asparagus is a great dish to prepare on the grill.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lb Asparagus
  • Aluminum foil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 onion cut into rings
  1. Clean and break off the tough ends of the asparagus. 
  2. Place the cleaned asparagus onto a big, square piece of aluminum foil
  3. Add 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp soy sauce, 2 garlic cloves minced and 1 onion cut into rings onto the asparagus. Move the asparagus around with your hand to coat it evenly.
  4. Allow the asparagus to cook for about four minutes on each side. Make sure you do not grill it for too long, asparagus cooks very quickly.

 

Stir Fry

Asparagus stir-fry is an asparagus recipe that is more of a meal then a side dish.  With just one pan you can cook all the meat and vegetables you need to complete this asparagus recipe. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb Asparagus cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 lb boneless top round steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms
  • 1 red pepper cut into thin slices
  • 3 carrots sliced
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  1. In a large pan add 2 tbsp olive oil and the meat. Stir the meat for about five to ten minutes.
  2. Add the asparagus and let it cook with the meat for about a minute.
  3. Add 2 garlic cloves minced, 1/2 cup of mushrooms, 1 red pepper cut into thin slices, 3 sliced carrots, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper.
  4. Stir the meat, vegetables and seasoning for about five minute, make sure it is mixed well.
  5.  Add 3 tbsp of soy sauce and stir it for about five additional minutes. (Keep in mind the vegetables should remain crisp, don’t overcook.)
  6.  Serve over rice and enjoy you just made a delicious asparagus stir fry.
