Babysitting Tips
If you are soon to be a babysitter, you should know these babysitting tips. These tips will tell you the most important things you need to know about babysitting kids. While there are slight variations among babysitting jobs, there are some basic aspects of babysitting that you need to remember during any kind of babysitting job.
- Be sure to prepare for a babysitting job. If you are babysitting at your house, go ahead and buy some healthy and low sugar snacks so that you won’thype the kids up for the night. Also have some plans what you are going to do to keep the kids entertained such as games and other attention grabbing activities. If you are going to someone’s house to babysit, don’t worry about the snacks, because you should be able to raid the kitchen for the kids. However, don’t forget the games. Don’t depend on the people that you are babysitting for having games at their house, so come prepared with entertaining games and ideas so that the kids don’t get bored, and therefore, dangerous!
- Plan out the babysitting schedule. The most basic schedule you might want to consider is: games, snack, television, bedtime. For the games, use everything from sports, such as basketball, to board games like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders. For the snack, try and use a healthier snack such as carrots and some dressing for a better taste because you don’t want to get the kids on a sugar high before bed and have hyperactive children on your hands. After they get tired of the games, let the kids watch some television. Monitor closely what they watch, because you don’t want the parents refusing to hire you again because their kids watched "Eyes Wide Shut" or "Basic Instinct" while they were away. After television time, have the kids get ready for bed by brushing their teeth.
- If you have a bad kid, know how to handle them. Bribery should never be overlooked during babysitting! If a child is acting up, tell them that if they are good, they can watch TV. Also use punishment by telling them that if they don’t calm down, they will be going to bed early. Keep in mind not to be to mean to the kid becuase, if bruises are left, you won't be called back!
