Bass fishing baits will give you a quick-guide when it comes to selecting the right tackle for bass fishing. Just because bass are a predatory fish doesn’t mean they’ll eat any type of bait. Not only do you need a wide variety of bass baits to catch bass any time of year, but you’ll also need the knowledge necessary to use these baits effectively at the right times that will optimize your success.

  1. Live bait. One type of bait that’s extremely effective for catching bass is live bait. Few types of bait are more effective than live bait due to their realistic look, taste, feel, and smell that live bait offers anglers. Before using any type of live bait, make sure to consult your local regulations to make sure that the type of live bait that you’ll be using will be legal on the waters that you’re fishing.
  2. Spinner baits. Spinner baits are another great type of bait to use to catch a wide variety of bass. Not only do spinner baits come in a variety of patterns, types, and styles, but they are extremely effective when fishing for bass in areas where snags are hard to avoid. Due to their design, spinner baits are a great choice for fishing around weed beds, rocks, and fallen timber.
  3. Crankbaits. Another classic bait for bass of any type are crankbaits. Crankbaits, similar to spinner baits, come in a wide-variety of styles that increase your odds at catching any type of bass. Crankbaits are also effective year-round with styles such as deep divers, minnow baits, twitch baits, and jerk baits. If you’re looking for variety, then it’s hard to beat crankbaits!
  4. Plastics. The last category of bass fishing baits may be more diverse than the previous three combined. Plastics offer anglers a wide-variety of options when it comes to chasing any type of bass. Some of the most popular types of plastics for bass include grubs, twisty tails, swim baits, eels, and many others. Plastics can also be fished a variety of ways with various rigs that will optimize your chances at catching bass in any situation!
