Bass Fishing Techniques

Bass fishing is a challenge that is enjoyed by many, and you can soon  be out there enjoying it with these bass fishing techniques. The technique you use will depend on the situation you are in, so it is important to think about where you are and your environment. One of the most important things to remember is to have fun while you are doing it.

  1. Doodling. This is a technique that is used  with a worm when you are bass fishing in a deep lake. You should let the bait fall to the depth needed and then shake the tip of your rod to get their attention. Wait about 30 seconds and then shake it again for a few seconds. Stop shaking, and pull it up slowly about six inches and then let it drop back down. Repeat this process.
  2. Night Fishing. Night fishing for bass is common in southern areas where it gets to hot to fish for them during the day. At night the fish will move up to shallower water to feed. This is when you should fish near the shoreline, and close to beds of weeds. You can also night fish in areas where there are man made structures or rock banks.
  3. Casting. Casting when you are bass fishing is all about the wrist. You should always use your wrist and not your arm or your shoulder. You can also lower the lure a few inches before you cast to give it some extra momentum.
  4. The Drop Shot. This bass fishing technique is used for bass fishing in clear deep water. It works best with small soft lures and a light rod. Although very simple, it is also very effective. A light line has a small bait holder hook tied directly to the line. A sinker is attached to the bottom of the tag end of the line.
