Bbq Sauce Recipes
There are many basic similarities between BBQ sauce recipes. BBQ sauce recipes can be divided into those that include vinegar and those that do not. Some have a tomato base, others have a mustard base. Some are sweet and smoky, others are savory and spicy. Finding the perfect BBQ sauce is a matter of taste. All recipes can be adjusted to suit your tastes.
For a smokey sweet BBQ recipe, you will need:
- 2 cups ketchup
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 4 teaspoons liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- In a sauce pan, over low heat, slowly combine ingredients one by one until all are incorporated into the sauce.
- Simmer at least twenty minutes. Add water to thin or cook longer if a thicker sauce is desired.
For a mustard-based BBQ sauce recipe, you will need:
- 3/4 cup yellow mustard
- 3/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl and let set for two hours.
- Some choose to cook this sauce, but it is not necessary.
