Visit some of the best beaches in South Carolina! The state is located between North Carolina and Georgia on the beautiful Eastern seaboard. Lush with wetlands, South Carolina's shore also has an abundance of great beaches. Here's a list of the top five beaches in the state.

  1. Myrtle Beach. In the northern section of South Carolina coastline is the mecca for sun worshipers in the South. It's the largest resort destination of its kind, with 60 miles of an area known as the Grand Strand. Find beachfront properties and an array of attractions and water activities sure to please.
  2. Hilton Head. South of Myrtle Beach lies Hilton Head Island, one of the largest islands along the Eastern coastline. Home to many vacation rental properties and plush resorts, Hilton Head Island is divided into small communities, each with its own array of lodging and activities. Hilton Head offers countless bike paths, over 30 golf courses, and a whopping twelve miles of beachfront.
  3. Kiawah Island. Just a short drive from historic Charleston, Kiawah Island is another large island off the eastern coastline, but less highly developed. Although it offers an abundance of lodging and amenities, it has around 10,000 acres of natural landscapes, just waiting to be explored. Kiawah Island boasts ten miles of pristine beaches.
  4. Folly Beach. Considerably less famous than the other beaches is Folly Island, a short drive from Charleston. Locals call it “the edge of America”. It offers a huge pier for saltwater fishing and is a surfer's paradise.
  5. Isle of Palms. The Isle of Palms is located in an area known as the Lowcountry. Just outside bustling Charleston, the Isle of Palms is a beautiful area for swimming and sunbathing, and you might find a sea turtle or its nest, since the area's tall dunes make for great nesting spots for the animals. Front Beach is open to the public, but the Wild Dunes Resort offers idyllic private beaches as well as a host of other amenities.
