Benefits Of Massage Therapy

You may have wondered what the benefits of massage therapy are and how they can help you enhance your life. There are many types of massage that trained massage therapists are familiar with. From Swedish and deep tissue to sports massage or light effleurage, no matter what kind of massage therapy you choose to get, you can benefit in several ways.

  1. Massage reduces stress. This is a no-brainer, but it needs to be mentioned because in addition to just feeling good, a reduction in stress can help promote greater physical health. It's becoming more and more accepted that stress is a major factor in the onset of physical illness and disease. If you're sick, well, you aren't going to feel very good and you won't be out making your mark on the world. So stress relief is the number one benefit of massage therapy.
  2. Massage can make you longer. Okay, this may not mean what you think, but massage is the manipulation of muscle tissue and their connective tissues. Along with massage of muscle tissue comes a release of any knots and fibrous tissues that could be preventing movement somewhere in your body. When these muscles are released by massage, they will be able to lengthen to their full extent when not contracted, making your body longer and leaner.
  3. Massage can improve your time in bed. Hey, you may be losing some sleep, and massage can improve your time in dream land. Massage therapy can have a secondary benefit of falling asleep more easily and staying asleep during your entire sleep cycle.
  4. Massage can get you lucky. This isn't a suggestion to come on to your massage therapist. That could really get you in trouble, or at least embarrassed. Another benefit of massage therapy is that you can get some great ideas. If you pay attention to what feels good to you when you're receiving massage therapy, then you can apply that knowledge when you're giving your lady a massage at your place. Think of massage therapy like a two-for-one: You get a great massage for yourself, and you get some direct teaching about massage methods that feel great for when it's your turn to give the massage.

If you're already receiving massage therapy, now you understand that it's more than just a feel-good moment. The benefits of massage therapy extend to your ability to stay well and enjoy life more on the whole. If you haven't chosen a massage therapist yet, be sure to choose one with a license who is experienced in whatever type of massage you like best. Now, go get naked under a warm sheet and experience all these benefits of massage therapy!
