The best cardio for weight loss will have you in the gym, but the cycle will be enjoyable. Cardio workouts for weight loss need to be accomplished just about everyday to sustain the calorie burn and fitness upgrades. The fitter you are, the easier it is to lose weight. Unfortunately, it stands to reason that if you are overweight, then you are not fit. Use these five recommendations for weight loss over a five day period for 45 minutes. Always consult your doctor to ensure you are able and then consult a fitness employee to discover your target cardio heart rate.

  1. Stationary Bike (18 mph): There are several types of stationary bicycles. A simple bike that lets you track your speed and heart rate is all that is needed. Bikes that offer inclines, tracks and terrain riding are great but not needed for a cardio workout for weight loss. Simply hop on the seat and start peddling. Keep the eighteen mph pace for fifteen minutes.
  2. Running (eight-minute mile): This cardio workout for weight loss is very doable. All you will need is a means to time yourself. A stop watch or wrist watch will do. You will need to work on pace to hit an eight minute mile. Don’t sweat it if you miss the mark the first few times. Walk if necessary, but in time you will be able to run the full mile. At this point, you will be able to gauge your pace for an eight-minute mile.
  3. Circuit Weight Training: An exceptional way to lose weight through cardio and is circuit weight training. This routine can take up the entire 45 minute cardio workout very easily without becoming boring. Circuit training should be inclusive to all the core muscles. Legs, abdomen, cheat, back and arms should all be addressed during your workout. Mix things up over a few days or between weeks if you like, but make certain you work all the core groups.
  4. Climbers (100’ per minute): Most folks don’t care for the ‘mountain’ or ‘stair’ climbers, but they offer a good workout. Fifteen minutes on one of these will get the blood flowing and the legs fit. Burning calories (fat) on one of these machines is a given if you can offer the dedication and maintain the target heart rate.
  5. Boxing: For a break from the normal routines, take advantage of the heavy bag. Most gyms will have boxing apparatus for their members. The heavy bag or speed bag is a great break in routine and a very good cardio workout. It will also double as an agility builder and stretch out your muscles to better adapt to the circuit training.

All of these workouts are set up in fifteen minute increments. This way you can pick and choose your routine on a daily basis, incorporating one or more of the exercises above. One of the biggest hurdles in cardio workouts is boredom.
