Shirley Temple. Shirley Temple is a predictable choice, as she is by far the most popular child star of the 30’s, and probably in history. Although Shirley Temple had a raging career as a child, her popularity never did carry on into adulthood. Some of Temple’s best known films included “As the Earth Turns,” “Carolina,” “Baby Take a Bow,” and “Now and Forever.” Temple appeared in over 60 films during her career that spanned two decades, the 30’s and the 40’s.

Jane Withers. Jane Withers most popular role was alongside Shirley Temple in the 1934 flick “Bright Eyes.” She was a unique character in the world of film and also appeared in nearly 60 various films over the 1930’s and 1940’s. Jane Withers career also continued in the 1960’s with a variety of commercials. Her best known films included “Little Miss Nobody” and “Ginger.”
- Jackie Cooper. Jackie Cooper’s career began in the late 1920’s, however he became best known in 1931 when he was the first kid to be nominated for a Best Actor Award for the film “Skippy.” Some of Cooper’s best known roles are in the movies “The Champ” and “The Devil is a Sissy.” Cooper’s fame did not continue beyond his childhood career, although he did set a standard for child actors at the time.
