Best Xbox 360 Games Of All Time
The best Xbox 360 games of all time are not exactly easy to pin down. The Xbox 360 features a wide variety of games from the usual first-person shooters to the quirky puzzle games of Xbox Live Arcade. All of these games are fantastic and should be played by anyone with an Xbox 360. In no particular order, here are the best Xbox 360 games available now.
- "Halo: Reach" The latest game in the "Halo" series, "Halo: Reach" takes the best aspect of "Halo," the multiplayer, and tweaks it to near perfection. This is the tightest first-person shooter the Xbox 360 has to offer. "Halo" is known for its tightly controlled gameplay and "Halo: Reach" is no exception. It takes everything learned from the previous games and rolls them all into quite a good package. The single-player campaign, which follows the defense of a planet known as Reach from a covenant attack, is pretty good for a "Halo" single-player campaign. Much better than "Halo 3," at least. The absolutely addicting multiplayer and decent single-player story makes "Halo: Reach" one of the best Xbox 360 games of all time.
- "Limbo" "Limbo" is an independent game released on Xbox Live Arcade by Playdead Studios. Featuring a monochrome coloring scheme, "Limbo" is one of those physics-based platform puzzle games that will leave you scratching your head. The art style is honestly depressing and bleak. You will definitely feel the atmosphere presented by this fantastic Xbox 360 game. You lead an unnamed boy through a series of different oppressive environments in order to find his sister. There is no dialogue in this game; the story is honestly not the important part. This game conveys its message through the bleak environments and fantastic puzzles. From spider chases to avoiding certain death in an industrial death trap, "Limbo's" fantastic gameplay and amazing visuals make this game one of the best Xbox 360 games of all time. It is a very unique game that everyone should try.
- "Shadow Complex" "Shadow Complex" is a fantastic downloadable game on Xbox Live Arcade. This game brings back the classic "Metroidvania" style of gameplay, featuring a huge base to explore while collecting powerups to access new areas. The story, which follows the main character stumbling across a hidden base that is preparing to nuke certain cities across the United States, is quite bad and easily forgotten. The real reason this is one of the best Xbox 360 games of all time is because of the gameplay. It is a modern spin on the classic "Metroid" style gameplay. Featuring clever weapons as well as interesting armor upgrades, this game will have you searching the area for every hidden powerup. Also featuring a fun challenge mode, "Shadow Complex" is one of those games that is just hard to put down.
- "Gears of War" "Gears of War" is often credited as the game that made the cover-based shooter popular. Following the journey of a group of giant meat-headed space marines on a mission to save their planet from an invading alien force, "Gears of War" set the bar for graphics and gameplay when it came out. Moving from cover to cover while taking shots at aliens allows for frantic and fun gameplay. The story is awful, so just ignore that. The real reason this is one of the best Xbox 360 games of all time is because of the gameplay. It is strangely addicting. The cover system actually makes the gameplay more intense than non cover-based games. The game also features fantastic multiplayer modes that will get you hooked, assuming people still play. The weapons are extremely fun to use from the brutal chainsaw bayonet on your rifle to a huge red laser from space. The fantastic and frantic gameplay of "Gears of War" make it a game that all Xbox 360 owners should play.
