While there are many out there who will certainly argue the point, the fact is that Derek Jeter is considered the best player for the New York Yankees. Even if you disagree, you can’t argue with the stats that are given to back up this well-deserved designation.

  1. Derek Jeter’s baseball career began in 1995. He has played the entire time for the New York Yankees. Since 2003, the man considered the best player for the New York Yankees has held the position of Team Captain.

  2. While other players have won both the All-Star Game MVP Award and the World Series MVP Award, Derek Jeter became the only player to win both in one year—2000. Other awards include the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove awards; he has won each of these a total of four times.

  3. The best player for the New York Yankees also happens to be their shortstop. To this end, he holds the all-time hits record among those holding that position.

  4. The best player for the New York Yankees has a career batting average of .317 for the 2009 season. No further comment is needed.

  5. Jeter passed Lou Gehrig in all-time hits by a Yankees player in 2009. That’s another reason why he’s considered the best player for the New York Yankees.

Whether you agree with the opinion that Derek Jeter is the best player for the New York Yankees or not, you must admit the numbers are impressive for any player.
