Whether it was signing with the popular music group Destiny’s Child or striking out on her own for a solo career, Beyonce has proven that she has what it takes to be one of the great stars of popular music.
Early Life: Beyone was born and raised in Houston, along with her younger sister. Her family enrolled her in a dance class, and as soon as she appeared on the stage it was obvious that she had the makings of one of the great stars. She also attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, which was located in her home city of Houston.
Success with Destiny’s Child: Her great success came when she became part of the singing group that would become Destiny’s Child. They released their debut, self-titled debut album in 1998, and the song “No No No” soon became a great success. Their subsequent album, “The Writing’s on the Wall” was even more successful, and the song “Say My Name” became one of their most famous singles. In 2000, the group won two Grammy Awards. However, various differences drove the group apart, and each member decided to pursue their own solo projects.
Solo Career: Although she had taken on more involvement with the writing of Destiny’s Child third album “Survivor,” in 2003 Beyonce Knowles released her debut solo album. The album roared to the top of the charts, and her singles continue to be quite popular, both in the United States and abroad. She also branched out into the world of acting, taking on roles in such films as “Austin Powers in Goldmember.” She also took on a larger role in the film “The Fighting Temptations.” Her star power and innate talent ensured that the two films were great successes.
