Early Life: Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana in August of 1958, and by 1964 he had joined several of his older brothers in their musical performances throughout the city. It quickly became obvious that he had a great deal of talent, and he was soon the leading voice of the popular singing group the Jackson 5. The group soon became a great Motown success, producing records and music throughout the 1970s.
Adult Success: Michael’s greatest success, however, would come as a solo artist, and throughout the 1980s his albums consistently shot to the top of the charts. In fact, his album “Thriller” was and continues to be the biggest-selling album of all time, and the video was widely seen as groundbreaking in the world of music videos. He also took on some film roles (such as “The Wiz”), but these were never as successful as his music videos.
Later Years: Michael Jackson’s later life was plagued by a number of troubles, most famously the accusations of child-molestation. This, along with his almost continually changing appearance (his nose being the most frequently discussed such transformation), and the incident involving his presentation of his child out of a window, led to much media speculation and scandal. Despite these negative incidents, he continued to donate to various charitable organizations and was planning to perform at a sold-out concert in London.
Unfortunately, he died on June 25, 2009 of a drug induced cardiac arrest, bringing to an end one of the most successful pop music recording careers of all time.
