One could say that the fact that Brad Pitt denies a dastardly affair with Angelina Jolie is a joke. During his interview in February's issue of "W," Brad Pitt was asked if he actually did have an affair with Angelina Jolie. He responded with, "What people don't understand is that we filmed 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up. Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't." His response is less than convincing.
It is not an unknown fact that Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston have had an odd rivalry after Jolie and Pitt had gotten together. There is an odd tension between them and the tabloids have picked up on it. Brad Pitt denies that any such tension exists, and goes on to say, "I'm very proud of the way that it was handled. It was respectful. Listen, man, Jen is a sweetheart. I think she got dragged into that one, and then there's a second round to all that Angie versus Jen. It's so created. We still check in with each other. She was a big part of my life, and me hers. I don't see how there cannot be [that]. That's life, man. That's life."
What makes things even more odd is Angelina Jolie admitted that she fell in love with Brad Pitt on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." This, of course, makes Jennifer Aniston upset. She responds to Angelina's confession with a simple and direct, "That's not cool." It is only assumed that Jennifer and Angelina will never be friendly toward each other. Though it seems that Brad would wish to keep both in his life.
While we may never know if Brad and Angelina did have a dastardly affair on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," what we do know is that the tabloids are having a field day with this story. Nothing says Hollywood like trust, love, betrayal and the tabloids covering every piece of the story and blowing it out of proportion. It seems that we will never see the end of this story, not even if and when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie split up.
