Nowadays it seems as if everyone has an iPhone, but how do you buy an iPhone without contract stipulations or an account with AT&T? Well, if you are willing to spend a little extra money you can easily buy an iPhone without contract rules or stipulations and enjoy the same benefits all of your friends have with their smart phone.

Things you'll need:

  • Extra cash (These iPhones typically cost much more than through AT&T)
  • A SIM card (you won't always need this, it depends on which route you take to secure your own iPhone without contract)
  1. Visit an Apple Store. You now have the ability of purchasing an iPhone without contract through the original vendor, Apple. You have to ask the salesperson for an iPhone without contract. While they will try to talk you into an iPhone with a contract, you can purchase these without. This is for the 3GS and the iPhone 4 but you will still be conducting calls through AT&T unless you have it unlocked. Keep in mind that there isn't an iPhone 4 unlock in the United States but that is probably sure to change in the future.
  2. Buy secondhand. You can purchase used iPhones through a variety of venues such as eBay and Craigslist. Obviously if you do not have AT&T you will have to have it unlocked so be sure you know someone dependable that can unlock it for you to use any SIM card. This will cost extra as well but it can be as inexpensive as $20.

Now you know how to buy iPhone without contract plans or rules that you have to follow. No matter which way you choose to purchase an iPhone without a contract you'll have to pony up more money than if you'd bought it straight from the store with a contract from AT&T. However, if you don't have the option of getting a new contract or are locked into a contract with another company then this option may be for you.
