Camping Food Checklist
Here is a camping food checklist. When you are camping bringing complicated meals and actually cooking is the last thing on your mind. Bring simple meals, they don’t have to be a bunch of fatty snack foods, but the more complicated the meal is the more the chance something is going to go wrong and the bigger the chance you are going to burn down your tent.
- Bread You can do so much with bread; sandwiches alone give you dozens of options. They are easy to make and there is something for everyone.
- Meat Lots of people bring small grills with them and almost every park campground has large grills for public use. You can bring pre-marinated steaks, hamburger, chicken or sliced deli meats for sandwiches. Just make sure you pack it well so it doesn’t attract wild animals.
- Cheese A must have for sandwiches and, now that they have those neat bite sized singles, something you can snack on at the same time.
- Crackers Something to have with cheese, fruit, or on their own. Easy to carry, pack, and eat and there are healthy brands as well.
- Chips Similar to crackers, a bit less healthy but still enjoyable and easy to bring on a camping trip.
- Salsa Pre-made and easy to carry, something to dip you’re chips or crackers in or an easy marinade for your chicken.
- Water A must have. No matter what else you bring, always bring more then enough water. You never know when you are going to need it. Not only does it keep you alive, it is also probably the single most useful think you can bring on a camping trip.
- Coffee/Tea A lot of people love the old pictures of cowboys gathered around the fire drinking coffee on a cattle drive. It’s a classic. Coffee and tea are easy drinks to bring and easy to make. Tea is also very healthy for you and a welcome break from just drinking tasteless water all the time.
- Trail Mix Nuts and dried fruits are an easy, healthy snack for a camping trip and dozens of mixes can be bought pre-made.
- Fruit Apples, oranges, and other fruits are a definite must have on a camping trip. They are also something that won't damage the environment if they accidently get left behind.
