Some of the top 10 celebrities on Twitter have millions of followers. These followers hang on every Tweet these celebrities make. Tweets may involve current affair, promotional tweets on projects the celebrities are involved in, or just daily matters. Whichever way, Twitter has created new dimensions to let celebrities interact with their fan base. We are going to look at some of the top 10 celebrities on Twitter and see what they tweet about.

1. Lady Gaga. Singer and pop sensation Lady Gaga is one of the top 10 celebrities on Twitter, bypassing President barrack Obama. She often tweets about her appearances and activities. Lady Gaga also tweets about personal stuff like “even after 3 times, he betrays me.” Perhaps it is her public persona and ability to expose her inner feelings that draw her fans to her in Twitter.
2. Ashton Kutcher. Mention top 10 celebrities on Twitter and we cannot miss Ashton Kutcher. He has a whopping 6.5 million followers on Twitter. Maybe it is because he promotes his various foundations (Demi and Ashton DNA Foundation) or the way he manages to always find time to tweet back to his followers, Ashton Kutcher continues to draw more followers to him on Twitter.
3. Barack Obama. The president of the United States is among the top 10 celebrities on Twitter with 7.4 million followers. His Tweets allow his followers to follow him during his busy Presidential schedule. They also plug his many political agendas – “I believe we can live within our means and live up to our shared values—and I'll work with anyone willing to get it done.” It may be interesting to note that President Obama is the most wired in President in history with accounts on Twitter and Facebook, not to mention his very own website.
4. Justine Bieber. America’s teen music sensation ranks among the top 10 celebrities on Twitter coming in with 8.9 million followers. Like most other celebrities, his Tweets consist of promoting his tours, and causes like “stop bullying.” Needless to say he get tons of tweets from his millions of teenage fans.
5. Britney Spears. Moving on to the other end of the celebrity spectrum, Britney Spear’s comes in with 7.5 million followers. This gets her into the list of the top 10 celebrities on Twitter. Maybe because she is a social train wreck but she still manages to garner quite a lot of followers on Twitter.
6. Kim Kardashian. Her Twitter page lists her as a “business woman, exec producer, fashion designer, perfumista.” This celebrity is one of top 10 celebrities on Twitter with 7.2 million followers. This extrovert has been milking her celebrity limelight since the expose of her sex tapes a few years back. The limelight does not seem to be fading with her promoting her Kardasian Credit cards and Kardashian Sillybandz on Twitter.
7. Ellen Degeneres. The hilarious host of The Ellen Show has a following of 6.4 million followers on Twitter. Her Twitter page claims that “My tweets are real, and they’re spectacular.” They certainly are real as she plugs her likes and dislikes with her fan base. Even promoting products like the Blackberry Playbooks to give away to her legion of fans. This funny woman of TV is certainly “keeping it real.”
8. Katy Perry. Katy Perry, wife of Hollywood funnyman Russel Brand comes in next in our list of top 10 celebrities on Twitter with 6.5 million follows. Mostly promoting her music and tours, she also shares interesting Tweets from her followers.
9. Taylor Swift. This American idol enjoys tweeting about everything from “watching kittens fall asleep” to “being backstage of the American Country awards” to her 6 million followers. This “girl next door” celebrity keeps her tweets nice and sweet such as the nice hometown girl that she is.
10. Opera Winfrey. The queen of American Daytime talk show has 65.6 million followers on Twitter. She gives her hordes of fans a little bit of opera every day on Twitter.  From walking her dogs to telling everyone to support a military family, Operas shows that her reach is way beyond daytime talk TV.
