Chicken Stir Fry Recipes

Chicken stir fry recipes are generally cooked with soy sauce and many vegetables. The Chinese stir fry foods woks at very high heat.  Although a wok will make the best stir fry recipes, it is not necessary. A simply heavy bottom skillet will do. Chicken stir fry recipes are very quick to make and are usually served with rice.

To make any chicken stir fry, you will need:

  • Chicken
  • Wok or frying pan
  • Utensils to stir fry with
  • Oils that can stand high temperatures
  • Vegetables

Traditional Chicken Stir Fry

Traditional chicken stir fry is one that is served often without much fuss. If you have ever gone to a Japanese restaurant where they cook the food in front of you,  this chicken stir fry wil be served.  

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts, cut into strips
  • 2 zucchini, cut into strips
  • 1 red pepper, cut into strips
  • 1 red onion, sliced thin
  • 2 cups bean sprouts
  • salt and pepper
  • soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 small handful coriander leaves, chopped
  1. Heat the oil and one tablespoon of butter in a wok or frying pan. When the oil is hot cook the chicken strips that have been seasoned with salt and pepper.
  2. Make sure the strips are browned and done. Remove the chicken from the pan and add in the onions and cook until translucent.
  3. Add in the zucchin and red peppers and stir fry until soft. Add the chicken and continue to stir fry for one minute. Add the bean sprouts at the end just to heat. 
  4. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter, and oy sauce to taste and add the sesame seeds. Sprinkle some salt and pepper on all the veggies.
  5. Garnish the stir fry with the green onions and coriander leaves. Serve a bowl of wihte rice on the side.       

 

Chicken Stir Fry Rice

Chicken stir fry rice is very simple to make and similar to the recipe above except this one has rice included in the meal. The vegetables can be interchanged to suit your taste and desires.

  • 2 chicken breasts, boneless, skinless and cut into cubes
  • 2 cups rice, cooked to 3/4 done
  • 1 cup peas
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • salt and pepper
  • soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 small handful coriander, chopped
  • 2 cucumbers, sliced
  1. Prepare the chicken the same way as the recipe above and set aside. Add the onions, carrots and green peppers to the oil and sauté.
  2. In the middle of the wok or skillet fry the egg hard. Chop the egg and mix with the veggies.
  3. Add salt and pepper to the whole mix. Add the rice to the veggies along with the remaining one tablespoon of butter. Stir fry quickly.
  4. Add the chicken, soy sauce to taste and stir fry until the rice is browned slightly. Add in the bean sprouts to heat thoroughly, but do not overcook as they are best crisp.
  5. Serve on a large plate and garnish with the green onions and coriander leaves. Around the outside of the plate place the sliced cucumbers.

 

Chicken Stir Fry with Broccoli

Chicken stir fry with broccoli is very simple to make and is very healthy too. Enjoy this recipe tonight with some white rice and egg drop soup.

  • 2 chicken breast, cut into strips
  • 2 cups broccoli, cut into small spears
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 red peppers, sliced
  • salt and pepper
  • soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  1. Prepare the chicken as above and set aside. Add the onion and red peppers to the oil and stir fry.
  2. Add the broccoli, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Make sure the broccoli is lightly crunchy and not soft.
  3. Add the chicken back in and stir fry with the veggies. Taste for seasoning and add salt and pepper as needed.
  4. Serve with white rice on a platter. Chicken stir fry recipes do not have to be difficult.
