Knowing Chlamydia symptoms is the only way to know that you need to be treated. Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection and can cause many different types of complications. Because Chlamydia can go on for months or even years without symptoms, the STI is easily transmitted from person to person. This makes it important to know what the symptoms are and catch the infection as soon as possible.

Pain or burning while urinating. If you begin to experience pain while urinating, you should take it seriously and see a physician right away. This is also a common symptom of urinary tract infections and should be treated regardless of the cause.

Testicular pain in men. Although the infection usually takes place in the urethra for men, it can spread to other reproductive organs.

Discharge from the urethra. The discharge may be yellow or grey in color.

Pain or discharge from the rectum. Anyone who has had sexual rectal contact is at risk for getting Chlamydia is the rectum. Abnormal rectal pain should be given medical attention right away.

Pain during sex. Chlamydia can cause sex to be painful due to inflammation from the infection.

If you have come in contact with someone with Chlamydia or experience any of these symptoms, you should seek medical help as soon as possible to be tested and treated. When left untreated, Chlamydia can cause complications such as infertility.
