Christmas Cupcake Recipe

Here is a Christmas cupcake recipe that is easy to make and is very delicious. You can make different types of Christmas cupcakes easily with simple cupcake batter. Christmas is a time for baking, but why spend the entire day in the kitchen? This time-saving Christmas cupcake recipe will be one that is a keeper.


  • 2 sticks butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup milk


  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter until fluffy. Gradually add in the sugar, beating after each addition.
  2. Add in the eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, pour the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients.
  4. Add the cup of milk and blend for one minute until the batter is smooth. Fill the cupcake papers with an ice cream scoop so each cupcake is uniform in size. Bake in a preheated 325-degree oven for 35 to 30 minutes.

Icing Recipe


  • 16 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
  • 2 sticks butter, room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 lb. confectioners sugar
  • 2 to 3 tbsp. milk


  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the cream cheese and the butter. Beat the cream cheese and butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the vanilla extract and gradually add the confectioners sugar.  Add more confectioners sugar as needed.
  3. If the icing becomes too thick, add milk as needed. Decorate the cupcakes for a holiday-themed party.

Cupcake Variations

  • Coconut cupcakes Use a fourteen-ounce bag of coconut.  Put seven ounces of coconut in the cupcake batter and use the remaining seven ounces for the top of the cupcakes. Place a tiny candy cane in the middle of each cupcake.
  • Chocolate cupcakes Take a bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels and drop a few inside each cupcake before baking. After baked and frosted, place chocolate sprinkles on top.
  • Peppermint cupcakes Instead of vanilla extract, use peppermint extract. Decorate the top of the Christmas cupcakes with broken candy cane pieces.
  • M&M cupcakes Decorate the tops of the Christmas cupcakes with M&Ms.
  • Christmas cupcakes decoration Change the color of the frosting and decorate with a tiny Santa Claus in the middle.
