Clean Pool Balls Properly
Once you've bought a billiard table and have your set of billiard balls, you should learn how to clean pool balls properly. Proper maintenance of your sports equipment will allow you to not have to replace equipment for a good while. There are three types of pool balls: resin based, polyester base and ivory balls. While it's been noted that you can place resin pool balls in the dishwasher to give them a good soapy wash, it's not wise to put your polyester balls or ivory balls in the dishwasher. If the balls as remain wet, they may get damaged. So before you get started on cleaning your pool balls, know what type of balls you have with your billiard set.
You will need:
- Hot water
- Mild soap
- Bowl
- Billiard balls cleaner
- Microfiber cloths, several small and a couple of large
- Billiard balls wax
- Area to clean and dry balls such as countertop or fold out table
- Get your supplies and area prepped. Take large microfiber towels and cover the table top or countertop in which you will clean your pool balls properly. Place mild soap in a bowl of hot water mix until sudsy.
- Dip small microfiber cloth in soapy water. Take the cloth and gently rub the scuffs and marks off the ball. Immediately wipe dry the billiard ball with another small microfiber cloth once you've given it a good cleaning.
- Spray cleaner onto billiard ball. While using soap and water is a good home remedy, you really need to buy a commercial billiard ball cleaner in to clean pool balls properly. Once the ball is wet with cleaner, use another clean small microfiber cloth and rub away any scuff marks that might remain. Use another small microfiber cloth to dry and let the pool ball sit on the large towel.
- Place billiard ball wax onto a small microfiber cloth. Cleaning pool balls properly requires a gently rub as the wax can be abrasive. Wax in circles until you have removed every last single scuff mark you can find. Now use a clean small microfiber cloth to dry. Let the ball sit on the large microfiber towels for a while before use.
Your billiard balls should look brand new and it's time to invite your friends over for a game of pool!
