Craps Game Rules
Craps is a fast paced game of chance where money can be won and fun had by knowing a few basic craps game rules. Casino craps games can usually be found by following the shouts and whoops of excited players. Craps is also considered to be the best table game to play in a casino based on the low house edge. The house edge is the advantage the casino has over the players when money is in play. To make money playing casino craps risky bets must be avoided that give the casino a high edge and full odds must be taken on any bet. Follow these few basic steps when approaching a craps game and the chances of winning will be the greatest.
- Approach the table and purchase chips. Stand at an open area of the craps table rail and wait for a lull in the action to buy chips. Place your money on the table and ask for chips. Always ask for help and tip the dealers for help and advice given.
- When and what to bet. Wait until the dealers announce a “coming out roll” then place money on the pass line. If the coming out roll is 7 or 11 then even money is paid on the pass line.
-
If the roll is a 2, 3, or 12 the pass line loses. If a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 is rolled this is referred to as the point. This is when a pass line bet should be backed up with full odds.
- Odds are a bonus bet the casino allows to minimized the house advantage. For example: A $10 bet is made on the pass line and the casino pays 5x odds the pass line bet should be backed up with $50 after a point is established. If the point is made on subsequent rolls before a 7 is rolled then the casino pays even money. Once the point is made a new round starts and a new coming out roll is made.
There is always a lot of action around a craps table and it is easy to get swept up in the excitement but if a player takes full advantage of odds and does not over extend then money can be made. At the very least, if luck runs poorly, losses can be kept to a minimum.
