Cricket batting tips will help improve your cricket game and make you an integral member of your cricket team. When you bat, you are referred to as a batsman. You must hit the cricket ball with a bat in order to score runs and hold onto your wickets. The right batting grip, stance and swing are all important cricket batting tips.

To complete this task, you need:

  • Cricket bat
  • Cricket ball
  1. Get the right footwork. Your feet should be kept approximately shoulder-width apart. This will help you stay steady and grounded as you swing. The weight of your body should stay on the balls of your feet in case you need to move suddenly to hit the cricket ball. This will give you more control during movement.
  2. Work on your grip. While there are several variations on the proper grip of a cricket bat, you shouldn’t just hold the bat in any fashion. One common way is to keep both hands on the bottom handle of the cricket bat. Hold the bat with one hand on top of the other and avoid gripping the bat too tightly. This can cause you to lose control.
  3. Keep your eye on the ball. The bowler will be holding the cricket ball. Rather than watching the bowler’s face, keep watching the ball. As you watch multiple bowls, you will eventually pick up on which direction the ball is likely to go.
  4. Swing with precision. As you swing the cricket bat, keep the handle near your hip. Do not move your head. Keep your eyes steady. Using more force can get the cricket ball further, but this can also affect your accuracy. Save particularly forceful swings for after you’ve mastered your swing.
  5. Continue to practice. All of these cricket batting tips are more effective for advanced cricket players who know the subtleties of the game. If you’re new to the game, you need to practice these tips and make adjustments as you discover what does and does not work for you as a cricket player.
