Diet Soda Bad For You?

Is diet soda bad for you? With current shift towards eating healthier, it may seem that diet sodas are the way to go. And while switching from regular soda to diet soda does save on some calories, as with anything, moderation is key. Diet sodas usually contain less or no caloric intake when compared to that of regular soda, but for as with any soda, there is the artificial sweetner to be concerned with, as well as the other artificial flavors that go into making a soda completely.

Moderation is the key when it comes to cutting down on sodas in general. While diet sodas can be low in relation to the regular cousins, drinking more than one can or one size throughout the day can lead to the same problems that occur when drinking cans of regular soda, that of obesity and diabetes. The best way to limit your amount is to drink one can at either lunch or dinner and then drink water or juice for the rest of the time.

However, also be aware that some juices may have a high sugar content, which would of course be counter productive. A healthier route would be to move from regular sodas to that of diet soda and then cutting out soda in its entirity. This may seem a difficult task, especially if this is the first time that you have decided to take your health into your control, but with support from doctors, family, and friends, you can easily make the switch to a healthier life. Are diet sodas bad for you? Not neccessarily; with moderation, diet sodas can be better for you than regular sodas, but if you are constantly drinking more than one a day, then they can be just as bad as the regular kind.
