The battery life is only slightly longer in the iPhone 3GS, but the wireless speed is double. The still camera on the upgrade has a 3 Megapixel autofocus versus 2 Megapixels for the 3G. The graphics capabilities are upgraded from OpenGL ES 1.1 to OpenGL ES 2.0. 

Some other features are similar in the iPhone 3G versus the 3GS, such as size and weight. the weight is not exactly the same, but you won't notice the difference. The iPhone 3GS is 0.07 ounces heavier than the 3G. 

If the differences between the iPhone 3G and the 3GS make you want to upgrade, consider the biggest difference between the two. The price of the iPhone 3GS is usually twice the cost of the 3G.
