DIY Fishing Bait Recipes
You won't need to spend a lot of money at the tackle store with these DIY fishing bait recipes. It doesn't matter what type of fishing you are doing, you will always need bait. Making your own fishing bait is easy, although you might not enjoy the smell while you are doing it.
- Catfish Bait Recipe. Buy 2 pounds of chicken livers, and a 32 ounce jar of garlic salt. Lay out the chicken livers and sprinkle the garlic salt all over them. Make sure you get a good amount of the garlic salt all over the livers. Once you have used all the livers , put them outside for several hours. You can then dump the whole concoction into a large container with a lid. Stir the mixture and add more garlic salt, saving about 1/4 of a cup for later. Cover and seal, and then place in an area out of the way for 10 days. When you are ready to fish, stir in the rest of the garlic salt.
- General DIY fishing bait recipe. Take a good amount of slices of bread, enough water to make them soggy, 1/2 cup of flour, garlic powder, a can of tuna, and some oil and mix them all together. Adjust the ingredients as necessary to make them into a large mass. Break off small pieces of the fishing bait and roll it into little balls.
- Cheese Bait. This is an easy DIY fishing bait made out of cheese. Take a store bought pie pastry and spread it out. Find some cheddar cheese spread and spread it out over the pastry. Then fold up the pastry and knead it so the cheese mixes in and they are completely blended together. You can then take your fishing bait and break off pieces to roll into little balls. Put them in the freezer so they harden up and then put them in a container that seals up tight.
