When he was a young kid, his parents split up and he spent the next several years of his life moving from home to home with his mother. However, at the age of nine, he moved into a permanent residence with his father.
Dwyane Wade's basketball career took off when he was a high school student at Richards High in Oaklawn, Illinois. Marquette University gave him a full basketball scholarship because of his excellent performance during high school, and he was even named Mr. Basketball Illinois. Unfortunately, due to poor grades, Dwyane Wade was ineligible to play basketball for Marquette during his freshman year. However, he worked hard, got his grades up, and became a standout player at Marquette during his sophomore and junior years.
Dwyane Wade was really noticed in 2003 when he led the Marquette Eagles to the Final Four. Shortly after that, the Miami Heat selected Dwyane Wade in the 2003 National Basketball Association draft with the fifth overall pick. Dwyane Wade had an above average rookie season, averaging 16.2 points per game in almost 35 minutes, but he broke out his second year with the Miami Heat when he averaged 24.1 points per game in 38 minutes of play. Dwyane Wade has made the NBA All-Star Game every season since 2005. Dwyane Wade won his first ever championship with the Miami Heat in 2006, and he was also named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals that year.
