Treatment for infections in the ear and other infections that come from cuts are similar. A person should start by gathering the necessary items to get the body to fight off the infection.

Things You Will Need to Treat an Ear Piercing Infection:

  • Earrings
  • An Analgesic (if needed)
  • An Antibiotic Cream

Basic Ear Piercing Infection Treatment:

  1. Remove the earring from the ear. Few people sterilize earrings and putting it back in can expose the ear to new bacteria. Squeeze all the pus out of the ear piercing hole. You can reduce the pain by applying a topical analgesics. 
  2. Apply the antibiotic ointment to the ear piercing infection site. If you do not have an antibiotic ointment, rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide have excellent antibiotic properties.
  3. Clean the ear with the ear piercing infection three times daily. You must repeat this regimen until the infection clears up. If you have found a way to keep the ears open, you can put the earring back in. Most situations require the person to let the ear grow back together.

First aid for an ear piercing infection is a simple process, but you must monitor it carefully. If the infection does not clear up in 14 days, you may want to see a doctor. If a person runs a fever, it is a sign of a deeper problem that requires a more direct form of medical supervision
