Easy Recipe for Fried Chicken
Every man needs a good recipe for fried chicken. Traditional recipes for fried chicken bring back memories of home cooked meals and family dinners, hopefully sans the crazy family fighting. Delicious fried chicken can be messy to prepare and is undeniably high in cholesterol. This alternate recipe for fried chicken is easy, moist and lighter than traditional crispy fried chicken. This fried chicken is moist, tender and will fall off the bone right into your salivating mouth.
Things you will need:
- Large deep frying pan with lid
- Vegetable oil
- Flour
- Salt and pepper (additional seasonings optional)
- Skinned chicken pieces
- Water
- Combine 2 cups of flour in a bowl or gallon size baggie. Add 2 pinches of salt and 2 teaspoons of pepper to the flour and mix well. Additional seasonings can be added if desired. Paprika, onion powder, cajun spice or garlic powder are spices that could be used to give your chicken some extra flavor.
- Pour approximately 1/8 cup of vegetable oil into the frying pan and turn to medium high heat. One at a time coat chicken pieces in flour mixture and place into frying pan. The oil should sizzle when the chicken is added without burning the meat. If the oil doesn't sizzle wait another minute and add another piece of chicken until all pieces are in the pan.
- Fry the chicken until it reaches a light golden brown and then turn it and cook it on the opposite side. If your oil begins to cook away add additional oil in small amounts to keep the frying pan lightly coated during the frying process.
- Turn the heat down to medium once the chicken is golden brown on all sides. Add one cup of water to the pan and cover. Simmer the chicken for a least one hour. The chicken should be cooking at a low heat that creates a slow bubbling to the water. Continue to turn down the heat to obtain this bubble. Additional water should be added as needed. Do not let the frying pan go dry as this will burn the chicken and it will not stay moist. To obtain a moist and tender chicken, cooking time should be two hours.
- This easy recipe for fried chicken is a crowd pleaser every time. Your guests will never guess how easy it was to prepare. This is not your traditional greasy fried chicken but a moist dish with the full flavor of traditional fried chicken.
