If you are interested in playing acoustic guitar, or have recently started, then you probably need to know some easy songs to play on acoustic guitar. These are the songs that many of today’s guitarists started by playing, and they will be sure to teach you not only about rhythm and chords, but also common chord progressions and how certain chords and tricks sound on the acoustic guitar.

  1. "Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door." The original version of this song by Bob Dylan is easily one of the easiest songs to play on the acoustic guitar. It has a simple chord progression of all of the basic chords you should have learned by now; these chords being G, D, C, and Am. Listen to the acoustic guitar song for the rhythm and keep playing this great classic tune until you can match it with the song.
  2. "A Horse with No Name." This classic tune by America uses only two different chords in its simplest version. The Em and the D are what make up this beginner acoustic guitar song because of the fact that it is so simple to play. Once again, you will need to listen to the song to get the timing, but doing so with this simple song will allow you to start developing a sense of timing on your acoustic guitar.
  3. "Mr. Tambourine Man." Another Bob Dylan classic, "Mr. Tambourine Man" is a little bit more difficult than some of the other acoustic songs on the list because it contains a G, A, D, and Em chord. Give the song a listen and you will hear a very uplifting acoustic guitar jingle that you should be able to pick up the chord progression and rhythm rather quickly.
