More women ride horses then men, but there are still a number of equestrian riding tips for men that should be taken into account when spending an extended amount of time atop a horse. Much of this stems from the fact that it is less comfortable for a man to straddle a horse for an extended period of time. Other equestrian riding tips for men apply to their own personal safety, in general. If you're a man and planning on riding a horse for an extended period of time, check out the tips below.

  1. Wear tighty-whities. We know that boxer briefs are much more comfortable as it lets everything breathe down there, but the more fabric you have rubbing up against your legs while you gallop along on a horse, the more of a chance that chaffing will occur. Tighty-whities, however, will keep this from happening. So for comfort's sake in the future, wear the briefs so you don't get a rash.
  2. Wear a Helmet. Even if you're a big tough guy, wearing a helmet is an essential equestrian riding tip, so that you don't kill or seriously injure yourself if you are thrown off the horse. This is a safety tip that applies to both men and women but seems to be important to repeat to men, due to their inherent manliness, or just stupidity.
  3. Pick a Big Horse. As a guy, you've got some more weight and heft to you. So if you're sitting on the back of a horse for hours on end, you want your horse to be big and strong and able to carry you the whole time without getting tired. This equestrian riding tip for men will ensure you have a good time the whole time you are riding, so that your horse doesn't wear out on you.
