Facebook Cheats

By learning a few simple Facebook cheats, you can become a bona-fide “power user” of the now ubiquitous social networking service. Though millions of people visit the site every day, very few know of the many Facebook cheats and hacks that almost anyone can perform. All you need is the open source web browser Mozilla Firefox and its add-on Greasemonkey, which allows you to control website nuances called “user scripts.” Though Facebook is known for keeping very tight controls regarding what its users can and can’t do, the following cheats will allow you to customize your own Facebook experience.

  1. Make the chat box bigger. The chatting application recently added to Facebook has taken hold as one of the site’s most popular features. It gives you the ability to instant message your friends when you’re both online. The only problem, though, is that it’s really tiny on the screen. By downloading the “Enlarge Chat Box” user script and activating it using Greasemonkey, you’ll be able to devote an entire browser tab to the chat box, enlarging it all the way up to the full web browser window.
  2. Get rid of the “Connect With Friends” box. You know that nagging box on your Facebook homepage that constantly asks whether you know friends of friends? That’s the “Connect With Friends” box and it’s perpetually annoying. To remove it entirely, use a Google search to find the “Remove Connect With Friends” user script and install it using Firefox’s Greasemonkey add on. The next time you visit your homepage, this Facebook cheat will be at work and the annoyance will have disappeared.
  3. Remove all sponsored ads. Even if you have an ad blocking application installed on your web browser, sponsored Facebook ads somehow squeak through onto the pages you visit. They’re not only distracting but eerily personalized because of the information Facebook shares with advertisers. Though you can’t stop the data sharing, you can block ads completely using the “Remove All Facebook Ads” cheat. It’s a user script available from multiple sources on the web and like the others can be activated with Mozilla Firefox’s Greasemonkey add on.
  4. Become a “pro poker.” If you’ve been away from Facebook for a few days, messages, pokes and updates can amass to huge amounts by the time you get back on. Taking care of them upon your return is something of a chore. But with this Facebook cheat, you can eliminate the “poke” problem in a hurry. By installing the “Poke Back All” user script, you’ll be able to “poke” back everyone who did it to you in your absence with one easy click of the mouse. It’s a real time saver if you have “poke” happy friends.
