Field Lacrosse Drills For College
Field Lacross drills for college teams is a great way to utilize all your moves and players for optimal results. Drills can be completed during practices or at set times to help with weak skills depending on the player. The three top areas a college player needs to work on is running, stick skills and shooting.
- Stick Skill Lacrosse Drill. Set up a straight line of cones with five yards between each one. Have the player work through the cones switching the hand their stick is in as they go through each cone. It's important for each player to hone their left handed stick skills.
- Lacrosse Shooting Drill. Place an attack player behind the goal and another at midfield about fifteen yards away. The midfielder needs to pitch the ball to the attack man and the attack man sets the midfielder up for a shot about five yards away from the goal. The midfielder then takes the crank shot. They do this about 50 times per practice or until the midfielder gets the positioning down. Have then switch and rotate players to hone all their shooting skills.
- Bounding Speed Drill. One of the best ways to work on running is to use speed drills. Bounding builds endurance and speed at the same time. Bounding is an exaggerated running movement. Use a standard running form only pause between leaps and maximize the movement of your arms.
Field Lacrosse drill for college teams are greatly beneficial to not only the entire team but individual players as well. When you take the time to work through these drills with your college players you are setting them up for a long sports career they can be proud of.
