Find A Roommate

There are a number of different ways in which to successfully find a roommate, some of which are better then others. This is a very important process, as you will be bringing in someone who will be sharing your space, have access to all of your things if they want it as well as your personal life. So choosing a roommate wisely is a very important thing to do, as you want the place you are living and coming home to after work to remain a place you enjoy spending time in. Check out the tips below on how to find a roommate successfully.

To find a roommate you will need:

  • A Cell Phone
  • A Computer
  • Internet
  1. Ask a Friend. Asking a friend of yours to be your roommate is a good way to find a roommate, as you have some history with them and can probably trust and rely on them more then some stranger. However, choose your friend who you can also live with wisely. There are many friends people have who they could never live with, but do enjoy the company of for a day or two at a time, not permanently. Not screening friends as roommates wisely can cause you to not be friends with that person anymore.
  2. Get a Recommendation. This may be an ideal way to find a roommate, as a recommendation from someone who you know and trust about another person is a good way to screen out weirdos. Also, this person who might move in is not a friend but just someone who knows one of your friends. So there isn't a personal connection here and both of you can be honest with each other, as well as keep your distance and have your own personal space when you need it.
  3. Find a Roommate Online. This is a tougher and riskier way to find a roommate, as there are a lot of strange people online who are looking for a place to live. So you will have to interview all of these people and make sure they are not crazy or probably won't go crazy when they are living with you. This may take more time, but it will definitely result in some interesting options for people who you may get a chance to live with.
  4. For All Roommates. Regardless of how you find your roommate, make sure that they have a job or at least money to be able to pay the rent on time. This is the most important job of a roommate: paying their half of the bills so that you're not paying as much. If this wasn't necessary, you would just live alone.
