Breaking out and need to know the foods to eat for clear skin? Everyone has heard the myth that eating chocolate and greasy foods causes breakouts. But do you know the foods to eat for clear skin? Keep reading to learn about the types of foods that will keep your skin healthy and breakout free.

  1. Vegetables. Many vegetables are high in fiber and have a high water content. Water helps flush out your pores and eliminate waste build up. If you don’t like eating vegetables plain, try blending them with fruit into smoothies or adding them to pasta sauce.
  2. Beans, bran and complex carbohydrates. The fiber found in these foods is quickly passed through your digestive system and out of your body. This means that your skin and pores aren’t bogged down with waste product that turns into acne. Try switching from white bread and rice to whole wheat bread and brown rice.
  3. Lean protein. Fish, skinless chicken breast and lean cuts of pork are good choices to control acne and keep your weight down. Stay away from anything fried or battered. Oil and fatty cuts of meat are bad for your heart and bad for your skin. Acne is linked to hormones, so organic or hormone free meat is the best choice for clear skin, if you can afford it.
  4. Fruit. Fruit is also has a high water content and is a good food choice for individuals who suffer from acne. Citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and grapefruits are ideal fruit choices. The citric acid found in citrus fruit has been used in home remedies for acne for years. Many acne products on the market today use different types of acid to control acne.

Eating a balanced and nutritious diet is important if you want to have clear skin. Eating foods that are not processed and are low in fat and sugar will keep your skin healthy. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and staying well hydrated will ensure that your skin stays clear and acne free.
