If you are worried you are being sexually harassed, then you need to know the forms of sexual harassment to prevent this problem. Don’t be afraid to report a sexual harassment problem once you know what is and isn’t sexual harassment because if someone is doing something that makes you feel uncomfortable, then you have to right to do what needs to be done to have it stopped! Be sure to know all about these forms of sexual harassment before reporting so you have as much ammunition as possible against the alleged offender.

  1. Verbal Sexual Harassment. Probably the most common form of sexual harassment for the simple fact that many do it without it being purposeful. This form of sexual harassment can be characterized by repeated spoken sexual comments that may or may not be explicit. The best approach to deal with this type is to first tell the offender that you are uncomfortable with their comments, and to please stop. 99% of people will quit immediately when they see it makes you uncomfortable, but if they persist, then it is time to report it!
  2. Visual Sexual Harassment. This is more common among the pranksters who find it funny to “flash” another person, normally a teacher or other individual with higher authority. This kind of sexual harassment is usually carried out by the offending party exposing his or her genitals body parts. If you have experience this type of behavior you should definitely report it if it continues because anything that puts you in an uncomfortable environment that involves sexual actions is sexual harassment!
  3. Sexual Battery. Easily the most serious of all sexual harassment cases. Sexual battery or assault involves putting your hands on someone else without their permission. This type of behavior should be addressed immediately because, if gone unchecked, the person could get out of check and possibly take the battery much further!
