Want to know how to get a date online? Online dating is one of the most common ways for men and women to find someone who is compatible and has similar interests as them.  Getting started in the online dating world is actually very simple and user friendly.  Even if you aren't computer savvy, most online dating systems can walk you through the entire process.

Here are five steps to a great online dating experience:

  1. You'll want to find an online dating service that appeals to you.  The best way to do this is by searching for online dating services in a search engine and seeing what each site has to offer.  Many sites will offer a free trial for you to get more acquainted with the how the software works.
  2. Once you've found a great website that makes you feel comfortable, you'll want to register.  Most registrations ask typical questions as in, your name, address and age.  The rest of the questions asked are usually optional and are left to your discretion whether you want people to know the particular information being asked of you.  Most of the time, these extra questions consist of personality type questions.  The more information about your personality you can give, the better matches the systems will usually find for you.
  3. After you've filled out all of your information, the system should bring up a list of compatible people for you to look at and read through their online profiles.  If you find some people that seem interesting and seems like someone who you could be paired up with, you can usually send them a note or some systems let you send a "wink" type gesture to let the other person know you're interested and looking.
  4. As you are able to send messages to people, people are also able to send message to you.  You're able to start relationships with people through notes and instant messenger chats.  It's always nice to get to know someone's personality well before you agree to meet them in public for a first date.
  5. A great tip for online dating is to always be truthful about yourself, otherwise you might be wasting your time and other people's time as well.  You don't want to exaggerate the truth of your personality or looks and end up on a first day, to just never hear from the person again.  Any potential relationship is always best started on a truthful note.
