When learning how to get rid of razor bumps and ingrown hairs use reasonable caution. Hair bumps or ingrown hairs is a condition when the hair fails to leave the skin during growth. This causes a folded hair in the hair sac. This is also called an ingrown hair. Inaccurate use of razor shaving causes hair to grow inside the skin. Razor bumps and ingrown hairs can cause irritation and discomfort. If the hair fails to grow out in time, it can also result in a bacterial infection. These are seen to form in areas that come in contact with a razor. Affected areas include face, neck or bikini.

  1. The most common cause of razor bump and ingrown hairs is shaving in the wrong direction. Some people accidently shave opposite to the direction of hair growth. This causes hair follicle damage. The sharp edge of razor cuts follicle tip and initiates a healing process. By the time the hair has grown out, the new skin is too strong for it to tear through. To get rid of razor bumps the best remedy is using caution while shaving. Always move the razor in the direction of hair growth. This will not let razor bumps to form.
  2. Razor bumps and ingrown hairs cause irritation and the hair follicle usually gets infected. This can lead to complications such as excessive hair loss in that area. Another way to get rid of razor bumps is by disinfecting the area before and after-shave. This prevents infection and cuts down razor bump formation. Use clean utensils for shaving. When visiting a barber, ask them to sterilize the razor while giving a sharp hairline. Best is to use disposable razors.
