Looking for information on how to get rid of shaving bumps? Shaving bumps are little red bumps that you would typically get after using a traditional blade razor, although you can get shaving bumps when using electric razors as well. In case you can't visualize what shaving bumps look like, they are very similar to small, red pimples. The information below will help you get rid of shaving bumps.

  1. Rest. Simply put, you are most likely getting shaving bumps because you have very sensitive skin. To get rid of shaving bumps, you will need to rest between shaving. If you shave on a Monday, try not to shave until Wednesday or Thursday so that your face has a chance to recover. If you know that you don't get shaving bumps from electric razors, you could opt to shave with those in between using a traditional blade razor.
  2. Warm Water. Did you know that warm water can soften the hair on your face? Before you shave with a traditional blade razor, spend a few minutes rubbing warm water into your face. You will find that your razor should cut right through the hair with ease, which will definitely help reduce the shaving bumps that you are experiencing.
  3. Dull Blades. Dull blades are often the major cause of shaving bumps. If you want to get rid of shaving bumps, change your blade at least once a week. Razor blades are not made to last forever and to get the perfect shave, you need a nice, sharp blade. If you know you won't remember to change the blade, purchase a traditional blade razor that changes colors when it needs to be changed.
  4. Shaving Cream. If you are not using shaving cream, you are probably causing the shaving bumps on your face. You may feel that you are getting a closer shave by shaving dry, but there is no layer of protection in between the razor blade and your skin. Using shaving cream or lotion can help you get rid of shaving bumps.
