With its rich history and deep past, you can expect nothing less than haunted houses in Texas. Some of the most well known haunted houses in Texas aren't houses at all, but hotels and schools. From mysterious flashing lights to ghostly mists, the haunted houses in Texas.

  1. Menger Hotel Located in San Antonio, the Menger Hotel is one of the most noteworthy haunted houses in Texas. In 1836 the battle of the Alamo took place on the grounds that now hold the Menger Hotel. Some apparitions that are said to have been seen include a hotel maid that was murdered by her husband, a cowboy and a lady in the hotel lobby wearing a blue dress.   2. The Natatorium Built in Amarillo, the Natatorium became with an indoor pool to keep patrons cool from the Texas heat. Shortly afterward the pool was covered over to make a great dancing area. Although nothing tragic happened and only good times ensued at the Natatorium, apparitions have been seen and heard singing and dancing. The Natatorium: 3705 West Sixth St. Amarillo, TX 79106.

  3. The Scott Theatre Located in Fort Worth, the Scott Theatre was built in 1966. It is said that a stage hand who took his own life after his girlfriend broke up with him still resides in the theatre. Laughter can be heard from under the stage. Others have said that William Edrington Scott, the man who left the money in a trust to build the theatre, is thought to be the apparition that straightens the paintings on the wall. Ashton Villa Mansion Located in Galveston, this lovely historical mansion in Galveston is said to be haunted by the owner's daughter who grew up to love her home, her beautiful things and herself.   5. The Jefferson Hotel Located in Jefferson, there have been various ghostly sightings reported. Children running and laughing in the hallways, whispers or knocking sounds and the smell of cigar smoke are just a few of the abnormal things guests have reported from the hotel.
