Three days after that mandate was lifted, though, Heineken shipped its first case to America. That shipment paved the way for Heineken to become a new favorite in the United States. Decades later, the signature green bottle and red star still remains one of the most highly imported beers in the US.
During the expansion that took place in the post-war years, Heineken was smart about acquiring a number of smaller breweries and brands to strengthen their company.
