Herbs For Infertility

Learn more about herbs for infertility so you too can become fertile. The desire to be parents has led many to doctors who are both expensive and sometimes unsuccessful. Trying home remedies with herbs is very inexpensive and if taken correctly, herbs for infertility may have little or no side effects.

  1. Panax Ginseng. A Chinese or Korean herb that is used by most for energy, ginseng is used for male infertility to give increased testosterone levels, sperm motility and to increase the sperm count. The main reason to use ginseng is to help the male have a stronger and longer erection during intercourse. The maximum dose is 1000mg and recommended dose is 200mg for regular use.
  2. Astralagus. Astralagus (astragalus membronaceous) is often used for male infertility and normally combined with other herbs such as ginseng and licorice. Astralagus is used to improve the immune system, increase concentration and improve sperm motility. The dosage for astralagus is one to 25 grams per day. There may be interaction with other herbs, so it is best to ask your doctor for dosage advice.
  3. Evening Primrose Oil. Evening primrose oil aids women who want to be fertile and have children. It is excellent in helping women to produce quality cervical fluid, lower cholesterol and help to end premenstrual syndrome symptoms. Evening primrose oil must only be taken between menstruation to ovulation. The daily recommended dosage is 1500mg to 3000mg. Primrose oil is excellent herb for infertility in women.
  4. Winter Cherry. You will need to dry this herb in the shade or in a room under a sunny window. After it is dry, grind it in a blender or coffee grinder.  Take the powder and mix it with milk. The suggested dosage for infertility is six grams of powder to one cup of milk. Use this for one week after you have stopped menstruating.  Do this same procedure for the next months to follow.
  5. Flax Seed Oil. Flax seed oil has been used for years in Germany and with the Budwig Cancer Diet. It is known to promote overall good health. Flax seed oil is used both for male and female infertility and is one oil that you should try. Flax seed oil must be refrigerated and buy in a dark bottle only. The dosage of flaxseed oil is one tablespoon a day.
  6. Dong Quai. Dong quai is used for both men and women for infertility uses. Dong quai is also excellent to help regulate the woman’s periods after stopping birth control pills. It has many benefits and it will make you happy.  Dong quai is often prescribed for female infertility, but most herbalists suggest using this in combination with other herbs. Do not use dong quai if you have breast cancer or prostate cancer.
  7. Red Clover and Nettles. Both red clover and nettles are suggested for infertility and they make a great tea. Just bring a pot of water to boil and remove the water from the fire. Add in a heaping tablespoon of each and let the herbs steep for at least twenty minutes. Some herbalist suggests steeping the herbs over night.  Drink this tea throughout the day.
