History Of David Beckham

David Beckham has become a household name but the history of David Beckham is less known.  Beckham is a huge soccer, or football, superstar in Europe and has only recently brought his soccer skills to the United States.  In the United States he is known as a soccer star but he is better known for his celebrity status and the advertising he does. 

David Beckham was born David Robert Joseph Beckham in May of 1975.  He was born in London, England.  Even in his younger years he was a natural at soccer.  He attended a soccer camp at age 11 and coaches then were taking notice of his natural ability.  

His professional soccer career began when he was only 17 years old.  In 1992, he signed his first professional contract with his all time favorite soccer team, the Manchester United.  He played there until 2003 when he went to play for Real Madrid.  He played for Real Madrid for four years until 2007 when he left to go play for the Los Angeles Galaxy which is a part of Major League Soccer, or MLS.  He currently is play for Milan in Serie A where he is on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy.  

Beckham has enjoyed a long and successful career.  In his journey he has accomplished many things.  With the Manchester United he was awarded the prize for Goal of the Season and PFA Player of the Year.  His greatest feat to date was also achieved with the Manchester United and that was when they won the Premiership, the FA Cup and the European Cup.  During his career he was also runner up for the European and the World Player of the Year.  

With all the success David Beckham has achieved, he still finds time to give back.  He has started The David Beckham Academy.  There is a location in London as well as Los Angeles.  This academy focuses on developing young players in the field of soccer.  

Outside of the soccer world, Beckham is married to Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham and the couple has three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz.  They currently live in Beverly Hills, California where both David and Victoria have made names for themselves in the fashion world.  With Victoria being involved with fashion and David still enjoying a successful career, the Beckham's seem to have lasting power and will be around for awhile.
