History Of Sexuality
What exactly does the history of sexuality mean? Sex appeal is not simply an object or idea which came into being at any certain time in history. Rather, sexuality evolved throughout time in different manners with different meanings. Sexuality is actually more of a state of being, and not a title or tangible object.
Sexuality, and the ability and amount of sexual activity, has nothing to do with the type of sexual activity being performed. Sexuality only describes the emotions and feeling conveyed to others.
There are many different forms of sexuality including homosexuality, heterosexuality and bisexuality. Until the word came into existence, the word, heterosexuality was not even used. Of course, looking into history there were traits of homosexuality that coincide with traits of the gay community today. There is no clear explanation as to why preferences were made by these different groups of people.
Sexuality has also revolved around submission and dominance. In any sexual relationship, this pair of opposites must exist. History has shown this to be true and constant. Sexuality itself is also not to be confused with sadomasochism. Sadomasochism is the act of bringing pleasure with strange objects and using bizarre parts of our bodies in unusual scenarios. Sometimes pain is incorporated into this act.
There is no way to completely or correctly document human sex appeal. All that can be done is to analyze the practices of individuals throughout history. But, it's possible to determine how, and when, man began to see himself as an object of desire. The attention received from others was a clear indication of sexual attraction or sexuality. As a result, sexuality cannot successfully be traced with any historical accuracy.
