Holiday Ham Recipe
Turn a fully cooked smoked cured ham into an elegant dinner by following this holiday ham recipe. Ham is quick and easy to prepare and makes the perfect holiday dinner. Serve your dinner guests and family a holiday ham that is beautifully decorated and flavored with a glaze of light brown sugar, pineapple rings, Maraschino cherries, and Cola.
To make a holiday ham, you will need:
- 10 to 12 pound fully cooked smoked cured ham
- 24 ounces Cola
- Canned Pineapple rings
- Light brown sugar
- Maraschino cherries
- Cloves
- Toothpicks
- Preheat the oven. Set the temperature of the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Choose a roasting pan that is larger than the ham. Place the ham in the roasting pan making sure it is not touching the sides of the pan.
- Baste the ham. Pour cola over the entire surface of the ham to baste it.
- Add pineapple and cherries. Attach pineapple ring slices to the ham in a pattern that will cover the top and sides. Use toothpicks to hold the pineapple slices in place. Place a Maraschino cherry in the center of each of the pineapple slices and secure with a toothpick. Insert a few cloves in each pineapple ring. Sprinkle light brown sugar over each pineapple ring.
- Bake the ham. Cover the ham with aluminum foil. Bake the ham for 1 ½ to 2 hours or until the internal temperature of the ham reaches 140 degrees F. Remove the foil every 30 minutes and baste the ham with more cola. Cover the ham with foil and continue to bake. Remove the ham from the oven and transfer to a serving platter. Slice the ham and serve hot.
Tips:
- The easiest way to tell if the ham is cook is to use a meat thermometer. It takes the guess work out of cooking a ham.
- Use caution when transferring the hot ham from the roasting pan to the platter. Hot sugar can cause serious burns.
