Homeworld 2 Mods
Homeworld 2 is the sequel to one of the greatest real-time strategy games ever made, so the fantastic offering of Homeworld 2 mods were guaranteed after the success of the first Homeworld's modding scene. Homeworld 2 is a space-combat real-time strategy game that continues the story of the first Homeworld. The first homeworld had an amazing mod scene full of brilliant ideas, so when Homeworld 2 came out, many of the modders switched over to it. These Homeworld 2 mods are just a small sampling of mods available as there are many more mods out there that deserve attention.
- Halo: Homefront. Halo was huge around the time Homeworld 2 was released. It was just a matter of time before some Halo fans wanted to expand Homeworld 2 into being a playground for Halo space battles. This Homeworld 2 mod is a total conversion that allows you to pit the Covenant and UNSC against each other in epic space battles. This mod is a bit tricky to install. Put the download files into your Homeworld 2 data folder, which is usually "C:\Program Files\sierra\Homeworld2\Data." Go to your Homeworld 2 shortcut, right click and go to properties. Set your target to "C:\Program Files\sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -mod Halohomefront.big. This will make the shortcut launch the mod. This mod is not compatible with other mods.
- Path to Victory. This Homeworld 2 mod modifies multiplayer and skirmish modes. It adds many cut units to the existing factions. The Keepers, a previously unplayable race, are also available to play with this mod. This is a great mod for people looking for new tactics in gameplay.
- Star Wars: Warlords. No space simulation game would be complete without a Star Wars mod. This mod replaces all the available ships with Star Wars counterparts, both from the books and the movies. Warlords also features locations distinct to the Star Wars locale. This Homeworld 2 mod should not be missed if you are a huge fan of Star Wars.
With the exception of the Halo mod, these Homeworld 2 mods are easy to install. Just extract the downloaded file into your Homeworld 2 directory.
