Homeworld Mod
Finding a really good "Homeworld" mod is surprisingly difficult. Ever since the sequel came out, "Homeworld" seems to have been ignored by the mod community, which is a shame because it really is one of the finest space-based, real-time strategy games ever. The following "Homeworld" mods are sure to please because they take a great engine and apply them to some amazing intellectual properties for an altogether great experience!
- New Decisions. This is one of the best "Homeworld" mods because it changes enough about the game to make it fresh, but not too easy. Many of the ships have been rebalanced and some are even made cheaper to build, while others have had their firepower dampened to make up for, say, an increase in speed. All of these balancing remakes come together to make a great "Homeworld" mod that is sure to be enjoyed by just about anybody!
- Star Trek: Sacrifice of Angels. This "Homeworld" mod puts you in the "Star Trek" universe during the wars at the latter portion of "Deep Space Nine," letting you take either side of the conflict in a unique campaign. Both the Federation and their nemeses have unique ships and abilities that make sure no two players' experiences are the same. If you're a huge "Star Trek" fan, you can't allow yourself to pass up this great "Homeworld" mod.
- Babylon 5: The Great Wars. As the monicker implies, you'll be able to take either side during The Great Wars that make up the majority of the plot of the popular "Babylon 5" canon. Each conflict has its own set of ships that evolve as the series does, and you'll be able to see it from almost every perspective possible. This is definitely what we'd call a "Homeworld" mod that is fan-service for the "Babylon 5" community, but honestly, we wouldn't have it any other way!
These are just a few of the "Homeworld" mods out there that pay great homages to some awesome sci-fi shows, or just improve the game altogether. This game may be old, but it has aged well, so be sure to download a great "Homeworld" mod and rekindle your love of space combat!
