Activating your cell phone is what connects it to the Sprint network and enables your phone to make calls, send text messages, access the web and all of the other awesome things that your cell phone is capable of. For those of us that don't have the time or the patience to active our new cell phones at a Sprint store, Sprint offers an online option for activating a cell phone. A few minutes in front of a computer and your cell phone will be activated in no time.
To activate your Sprint cell phone you will need:
- A computer with internet connection
Sprint cell phone
- Log into your Sprint cell phone account. When you have logged into your account look for the link the says "Activate a New Phone" on the right hand section of the screen. This will take you to the activation screen.
- Remove the battery. Underneath the battery you will see a sixteen digit code beginning with the letters "DEC." If you are not able to locate the "DEC" number underneath the battery, look for the number on the box that your cell phone came in. The "DEC" code is the number that identifies your cell phone as a Sprint device. Once you locate the "DEC," enter the sixteen digit code into the highlighted sections of the activation screen.
- Click "Continue" on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Clicking the "Continue" button will send the information for your cell phone to the Sprint network. Once your cell phone's information has been sent to the Sprint network, your phone will be activated and ready to use.
