Television advertising: whether it's for businesses, infomercials, or products, it's one of the most effective forms of advertisement. But have you ever wondered "How To Advertise On TV?" The average person watches a total of seven hours of TV a day, so even with newspapers, radio and the internet, television still remains the king of advertising.  Millions of dollars are spent on television advertising annually. If you're looking to advertise to grow a business or sell products, TV advertising is the way to go.

There are a few things you should know about how to advertise on TV.

  1. Develop a budget. You need to know how much money you can afford to spend on advertising  on TV before you can purchase a spot. When you go into a meeting for advertising, you need to have already developed a budget. Your budget should include things such as hiring actors, purchasing or renting props, lighting, and equipment for your studio set, and money for music, editing, and logos. Developing a detailed budget prior to going into a meeting will have you well prepared for exactly what you can and cannot do, and what you can and cannot afford to advertise on TV effectively.
  2. Look for deals by calling your local television stations. Some of the best bargains are on cable TV. Ask sales managers for their current or upcoming specials, package deals, and lowest rates. Look into buying multiple spots on a variety of channels to see if you can get a price break. Don't be afraid to negotiate. You will find a broadcast company that will be willing to work with you, and both of you can come to an agreement on. Getting a spot on TV for advertisement in itself is can be a huge success. There is no need to get the most expensive commercial slot. Shop around until you to find what you want, and the best deal possible to advertise on TV.
  3. Grab the viewer's attention. The first five seconds of a commercial are crucial because they will determine if you grab and hold the attention of the viewer.  You want the picture to tell a story in itself by having the commercial look attractive to the audience. Avoid talky commercials by finding an memorable phrase, set of words, or a jingle that will make your advertisement stand out from others. Before you advertise on TV find out what your competition is and what makes those ads so popular. Figure out how to do even greater things than your competition to be able to grab your viewer's attention. Research the target demographic audience to see what it is that they like and they want. Is there a certain type of music, or special lighting that will attract them to your ad? You want to make your viewer want what you have to advertise on TV.
