Most people are annoyed by pop ups and prefer to block them, but sometimes you need to know how to allow pop ups in Internet Explorer if the pop up contains important information. You can do change your settings to allow pop ups in a few simple, quick steps in Internet Explorer.
- Open Internet Explorer. Wait for the browser to load completely.
- Navigate to the Internet Explorer main menu. Click "Tools" then "Pop-up Blocker" on the main menu. Choose "Turn Off Pop-up Blocker." This will allow pop ups in Internet Explorer on every website that you visit.
Choose the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" option instead. This is an alternative option if you want to only allow pop-ups from secure websites. This is a prudent choice because you don't want to allow pop ups from random unsecured websites. A dialog box will appear.
Set filter level. Go to the "Filter Level" box and choose "Low" from the list of options. This will block pop-ups from most websites and allow pop ups in Internet Explorer from secure websites (start with https://).
Allow pop ups on a short list of sites instead. As another alternative, you can allow pop ups on a short list of common websites that you like to visit. Go back to the "Pop-up Blocker Settings" dialog box and type in the web address of each website that you want to allow pop ups. Click "Add" to insert each website into the "Allow" list.
- Click "Close" to save your final allow pop ups settings. Once saved, test the new browser settings on a website that displays pop up messages to see if it will now allow pop ups in Internet Explorer to appear.
